Established in 1984 in the heart of Durban, the Bavarian Butchery and Delicatessen has a rich heritage and delivers a true German experience, from delicious eisbeins to tasty sauerkraut and smoked ribs.
Roland Reichelt, a true German Fleischmeister, and Yolanda van Zyl bought the business in 2010 and decided to move out of the city and make their home in Salt Rock, where they grew into a local favourite. Roland carried his recipes into production whilst his wife applied her marketing skills and embraced the German way of perfecting meat.
Roland unfortunately passed on in 2015 but Yolanda decided that his legacy will live on through the business.
Armed with Roland’s recipes and love for food, Yolanda and her team are honouring their memories and hard work by giving every piece of meat the same attention that they always have.
Located in a beautiful corner of The Market, the Bavarian Deli offer all the smoked German favourites as well as a wide range of local and imported cheeses and imported treats.
