Originally intending to extend trading hours for the Festive Season through to 9 January 2021, Lifestyle Centre has, following the President’s address of Monday, 28 December 2020, reverted to the following minimum trading hours with immediate effect, ie. from Tuesday, 29 December 2020:
Centre Trading Hours | Monday – Sunday: 9am – 5pm |
The Market Retail | Monday – Sunday: 8am – 5pm |
The Market Eateries | Monday – Thursday: 8am – 8pm Friday – Saturday: 8am – 9pm Sunday: 8am – 8pm |
Restaurants on Eat Street | 11am – 10pm daily |
According to Lifestyle Centre owner, Bruce Rencken, “Following the President’s address and the declaration of Lockdown Level 3 from midnight last night, together with the spike in Covid infections and the declaration of the Ilembe district as a hotspot, we have decided to cut back our trading hours to assist tenants to manage their staff complements effectively and, where possible, implement split shifts, to ensure continuity of operations and effective and safe service to our customers. All tenants are expected to trade and comply with these hours, with the exception of TOPS and Alchemy Bar, who are severely affected by the alcohol ban. Anchor tenants will trade longer hours and restaurants will continue to operate to 8pm daily, without serving alcohol, but we aim to still provide a great experience to our patrons. Live music at The Market and on Eat Street will continue, with musicians wearing masks, as per the legal requirements. For this reason, some advertised live music gigs may not be able to go ahead, while others will be changed to instrumental. Our tenants continue to be vigilant in terms of all health and safety protocol and we expect all staff and customers alike to wear masks at all times in public places.”
Anchor tenants at Lifestyle Centre are currently operating the following hours, subject to change, with a few other stores also operating longer than the minimum trading hours:
Lifestyle SUPERSPAR Tops at Lifestyle |
7am – 7pm daily Monday – Thursday: 10am – 6pm |
Woolworths Foodmarket | 7am – 7pm daily |
Dis-Chem | Monday – Saturday: 8am – 6pm
Sunday: 9am – 5pm. |
Mica | Monday – Saturday: 7am – 5pm
Sunday: 9am – 5pm |
An additional requirement of the adjusted level 3 regulations is for every business premises to determine the maximum number of staff and customers permitted at any one time based on social-distancing guidelines and not exceed that limit. “This maximum number has been calculated for each store within Lifestyle Centre and numbers will be monitored and managed accordingly by the individual stores,” Rencken explained.
