A number of stores have reopened at Lifestyle Centre since the move to level 4, in South Africa’s phased approach to lifting the lockdown.
Several health and safety measures and protocols are in place to continue the shopping centre’s efforts to prevent further spread of the coronavirus and reassure customers wishing to shop at the centre. These include compulsory staff health screening, the wearing of cloth masks by all tenant staff members; the availability of alchohol-based hand sanitiser; regular deep-cleaning of The Market, ablutions and other public spaces; regular sanitisation of countertops, surfaces and any touchpoints in all stores; a 20 minute handwash or sanitise rule for all staff; continuous education of and communication with staff; social distancing measures and limitation on customers numbers, using the formula of allowing one customer per 8m2 of selling area. Signage and social distancing markers are in place around the centre to remind the community of these health and safety requirements that have been implemented to protect both employees and customers alike.
An up-to-date listing of open stores and their trading hours at Lifestyle Centre can be found at www.ballitolifestylecentre.co.za/open and any pertinent information will be shared on the Centre’s Facebook and Instagram feeds.
Bruce Rencken, Lifestyle Centre owner, said “The team at Lifestyle Centre has always valued and drawn inspiration from family, community, and making the most of our beautiful surroundings on the Dolphin Coast. It goes without saying that this has been a particularly tough time for the whole North Coast community and beyond. Many of our tenants have been unable to ply their trade for over 5 weeks. We thank our loyal locals for their support and call on them to ‘support local’ as the lockdown is eased. I am sure that we are all looking forward to getting closer to living life, the Ballito way, again!”
