MEET THE SCOOP TEAM:
Serge Bahse
Scoop manager Serge has been with the company since 2017. He is 33 years old, lives in Sheffield, and is a proud husband and a dad to his young daughter. He is also close to his mother who, he says, taught him about the pride that comes from helping and serving others. “I have worked at Scoop for seven, beautiful years. Before that, I worked in parking, painting and waterproofing.”
What do you enjoy most about your job? There is so much I love about Scoop, but mostly I love meeting and interacting with people. I also really enjoy learning and training others.
What is your favourite flavour of Scoop Ice Cream? Definitely the Lemon Sorbet.
Nkosingiphile Nomzamo Jali
Family is extremely important to 26-year-old Scoop shop assistant Nkosingiphile from Malenda, Stanger. “I am a mother to my handsome 5-year-old son, a sister and a daughter. My family means everything to me.” Nkosingiphile has been working at Scoop for two years. Before that, she was a student at Work 4 A Living.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy interacting with so many different people, all from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I’ve learned a lot about business and the importance of customer service. You have to be friendly to every person that enters the shop and make them feel welcome at all times. It’s a positive, happy environment to work in and I work with a wonderful team of colleagues!
What is your favourite flavour of Scoop Ice Cream?
My favourite flavour is Vanilla Salted Macadamia.
Nontobeko Ngubane
Nontobeko knows what it’s like to be surrounded by a lot of people, a lot of the time. The 41-year-old Scoop shop assistant grew up in Maphumulo where she lived with 20 other family members in one homestead! “My father was the sole breadwinner in his family and supported his brothers and sisters and their children.” Nontobeko moved to Stanger with her mother when she was in high school. She now lives in Malende in Stanger.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I have worked for Scoop for seven years and I love meeting all the different people from different backgrounds.
What is your favourite flavour of Scoop Ice Cream? My favourite is Salted Caramel.
Welile Dumisa
Originally from Eshowe, 21-year-old shop assistant Welile now lives in Thembeni in Stanger. Having lost his father at an early age, Welile was raised by his mother and grandmother, who he says instilled in him the importance of education, perseverance and hard work. “I am so grateful for their love and support, the knowledge that I can always count on them.” Welile has worked at Scoop for 7 months
What do you enjoy most about your job? What I enjoy most about my job is learning about customer service and the importance of really listening to your customers. I also love working with the Scoop team. We are all about teamwork and have great managers!
What is your favourite flavour of Scoop Ice Cream? My favourite flavour is Chocolate Choc Chip.
Nombuso Mbonambi
Thirty-year-old mother of three Nombuso has been working at Scoop for just over a year. She lives in Thembeni and comes from a big, loving family. “Our tower of strength was always our grandmother who sadly passed away a few years ago. I have two sons and a daughter, and my sister is my ‘other half’ and my absolute pillar!” Before she became a Scoop shop assistant, Nombuso worked in the hospitality industry and then took some time off to be with her newborn daughter.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I enjoy interacting with customers more than anything.
